The Beginning of After by Jennifer Castle
Publishing date: September 6th 2011
Goodreads
Sixteen-year-old Laurel's world changes instantly when her parents and brother are killed in a terrible car accident. Behind the wheel is the father of her bad-boy neighbor, David Kaufman, whose mother is also killed. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Laurel navigates a new reality in which she and her best friend grow apart, boys may or may not be approaching her out of pity, overpowering memories lurk everywhere, and Mr. Kaufman is comatose but still very much alive. Through it all, there is David, who swoops in and out of Laurel's life and to whom she finds herself attracted against her better judgment. She will forever be connected to him by their mutual loss, a connection that will change them both in unexpected ways.
I love the premise. It seems like a very intense and heart-wrenching read, and I can't wait to see what the author does with the Laurel/David relationship.

Shut Out by Kody Keplinger
Publishing date: September 5th 2011
Goodreads
A contemporary reimagining of the Greek play, "Lysistrata," in which high school senior Lissa decides it's time to end her school's ridiculous sports rivalry once and for all by starting a hook-up strike.
While the plot seems a bit childish, it's a Kody Keplinger book. Therefore, I want it in my hands, now. Also, there's the word "Greek" in it so of course I'm drooling over it like an overeager puppy, even though it has little to do with actual Greek mythology. I'm shaking my head at m

Excited about Shut Out, and while The Beginning of After sounds good too, I am getting a little over saturated with the preponderance of contemp novel about death.
